The Lemosho offers trekkers the experience of hiking across the Shira Plateau – one of the largest high altitude plateaus in the world.It is less used route to climb Kilimanjaro. Lemosho starts in lush, fertile rainforest. It is the first ecological zone you encounter on Kilimanjaro.

breakfast depart from Moshi/Arusha driving to Lemosho gate, takes around 2-3 hrs.Arrives at the gate complete all the park formalities.The trek will star here.You will follow a moderately steep track 4-5 hrs(5.5 km/3.5miles) which leads you through an amazing and unspoilt natural rainforest to the Camp

After breakfast, Derpart the camp the trail become steeper, Gradually the forest thin out and the land scape start to changer into are heath and moorland where plants like erica and lobelia start to dominate the landscape.Lunch will be served after crossing through Shira Ridge 4-5 hrs of trekking,Short rest! enjoy the fantastic views of Mt Meru and the Rift Valley. The last part of the climb (approximately 3 hours), you will climb another 250 m in altitude. The landscape will change again and you will pass giant senecios that can grow to almost 9 m in height. Arrives at the camp for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast full day trekking 4-5 hrs(10km/6.2Miles) exploring the Shira Plateau, one of the highest plateaus on earth( World Heritage Site) gentle walk east on moorland meadows towards Camp.Variety of walks are available which making this an excellent acclimatization opportunity day

We begin our day by climbing along the ridge 5-6 hrs(10km/6.3Miles) walk and then head southeast above shira plateau towards the Lava Tower – a 300 ft tall volcanic rock formation.This will allow your body to acclimatise. We descend down to Barranco Camp. The day is very important for acclimatization and will help your body to adjust the high altitude preparing yourself to get to summit.

After breakfast you leave Baranco camp,The journey takes 4-5 hrs(5 km -3 miles) keep on ascending on the steep ridge passing through Baranco wall, approximately takes 1 hour to climb. You may need to use your hands occasionally but don’t be over concerned as the wall is not dangerous and at the summit of the wall the road drifts and lead you to the Karanga valley camp. Lunch is served . Another short day designed to help with acclimatization. Arrives at the camp for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast you leave Karanga camp,The journey takes 4-5 hrs(7 km /4 miles) hits the junction which connects with Mweka route trail. Ascending to the Barafu were you might have chance to see the summit of Uhuru peak from different angles. Arrives at the camp for dinner and overnight.

Very early in the morning (around midnight), we begin our push to the summit. This is the most mentally and physically challenging part of the trek. At this elevation and time of day, the wind and cold can be extreme. We ascend in the darkness for several hours while taking frequent but short breaks. Near Stella Point (18,900ft), you will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see coming over Mawenzi Peak.
Finally, arrive at Uhuru Peak— the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and Africa. Here, you can take a moment to reflect on your tremendous accomplishment. You’ll obviously have the opportunity to take a few pictures from the ‘Rooftop of Africa’ to memorialize this special moment.
From the summit, we now make our descent continuing straight down to the Mweka Hut campsite, stopping at Barafu for lunch. The trail is very rocky and can be quite hard on the knees; trekking poles are helpful. Mweka Camp is situated in the upper forest and mist or rain can be expected in the late afternoon. Later in the evening, we will enjoy our last dinner on the mountain and a well-earned sleep.

Moshi/Arusha
After breakfast at Mweka camp, final descent of 4,500 ft brings you down to Mweka gate which it will take 3-4 hrs(9 km-5.5Miles) where lunch will be saved and transfer vehicles will be waiting to pick you. Here you will say goodbye to our mountain staff.It is customary to present your support team with their hard-earned tips at this point before heading to the hotel Moshi/ Arusha for a farewell dinner and either overnight or a day room and later on for international departure.
