5 DAYS—MARANGU ROUTE

The Marangu Route is also known as the “Tourist Route” and the “Coca-Cola Route.” This is because Marangu is the most popular route on the mountain, and thus is considered “touristy”, and because the route is the only one that offers sleeping huts, which serve beverages like Coca-Cola, on the way.

Marangu Route is the only route the climbers can enjoying the comforts of sleeping huts in dormitory style at every campsite with solar lights and comfortable beds. Guests supplied with mattresses and pillows, but sleeping bags are still required. The huts have communal dining rooms and basic washrooms.

Even though the Marangu route considered by many as the easiest route, it is not necessarily right and due the short time frame of the route and the lack of vegetation in the higher parts of the route (compare to other routes), makes altitude acclimatization fairly difficult.

The climbers using the same way ascending and descending, what makes this route usually the most crowded one.

Marangu route can be done by 5 days or 6 days for an extra acclimatization day in horombo hut.
